Can someone tell me more about this knife

j_sepf welcome to the forum.
I am sure codger 64 will be along shortly and give you the complete history of your new found treasure. If you were expecting a buried treasure worth hundreds of dollars you will be disappointed. What you have a a great user knife made for Sears by Schrade Walden, probably prior to 1973. Codger will know for sure. This is known as a contract knife. Schrade Walden changed its name to Schrade in 1973. Last year after 100 years they went out of business.
What you have is a good user knife, good steel and a piece of cutlery history. Enjoy your new treasure and welcome to the forum.

My research shows the knife to be a short run knife made sometime between circa 1961 and 1965. A trusted former factory source said they were only made in 1961, but that would not include SFO's for Sears Roebuck and Company. The Schrade designation for that knife is 141L, which would have a leather washer handle and carbon steel blade. Yours, as specified by Sears, has a stainless steel blade and "wondawood" impregnated wood handle. The model name was "Tall Tale", no doubt refering to the whimsical bear head aluminum pommel. We had a thread about this knife a while back.

Well that certianly is a good find, and could easily lead you to become a Schrade Collector, that is if you have not already been inflicted.
