Can Someone Tell Me the Purpose for this knife?

It's a neck-knife, which gives you another form of carry instead of the waist or pockets. It can be concealable, but most things can be. It's good for daily light use.

do we reallly need to know?
knives come in all different sizes. and sometimes blur the catagoreies.

if this knife fits someones bill, then horay!

this knife is in the same categorey as the CRKT fixed falcon i have. and i have yet to find a use for it.

so not for personal defense? is it stupid to ask if a knife is for defense?

i was also wondering if i should get the black version like i posted or the silver chrome version... which blade would be more durable?

It could be for SD, if you want it to be.

The black stuff is just a coating, which will wear away with use. The other is naked steel. Whatever tickles yer pickle.

I read somewhere an interesting comment about blade coating: it's generally wise to choose the non-coated for an EDC. If, god forbid, you ever have to use it for SD, or it is found on you by authorities, the non-coated blade looks much less foreboding to the lay-person (and therefore your jury). I'm not sure if it matters at all, but I suppose the black blades do look a bit more "hardcore".

I don't see much use for such knives. Other models can do the same things this one will. It's just one more design in a world of knives. It looks like it's made to perhaps cut rope and other small jobs. The mostly serrated blade lends itself to such uses. It's a small, tough knife that can shear through knotty things. For self defense, it can be deadly if you know where to slash.

It looks like it would make a decent rafting\river knife. To each his own; I am sure that someone will find a use for it.

i am thinking about getting this knife at the shop where i work.. we have 2 of them in and i am pretty set on it... i just like it because i can conceal it and carry it around my neck and like you guys have stated, it will be good for a plethora of things, like going down the river, being on the water, fishing, etc... as for SD, hell, it is a blade... 2 inches inside a person is enough to hurt them right? haha

I think that was Allen's original purpose. Also, it would work well in a wetsuit.

if i were going to be going underwater for something, scuba diving, or just when i take a trip to the river to fish, i will be taking this blade with me.
