I am trying to add fine jimping to my bk24. The D2 steel is pretty abrasion resistant and skates off any files I have tried to use. I have been searching for a triangular file hard enough and sharp enough on its edges to create the jimping I am after and think the spyderco sharpmaker triangular rods might do the trick. To get an idea of how sharp the corners of the stones are and what kind of jimping it might be capable of, I would really appreciate it if someone could file a small notch or two into a penny or some other soft, easily recognizable object. Also, if someone happens to have one of the spyderco ceramic files and could do the same, I would appreciate that as well. Thanks for looking.

Look for diamond files at a hardware near you. The spyderco SM rods are too fine for that type of work.

Congress tools. Sell triangular polishing stones that will do far better than the spyderco ones. How do I know.....I reprofile on my sharp maker and I use the congress stones....cause the spyderco diamond and ceramics would never get the heavy removal done.

Hacksaw blade. Notch cut with Sharpmaker brown stone. Took maybe a minute or two.

I think the Sharpmaker diamond rod would be up for the job. To get an idea of the size, take a look at a Spyderedge knife. The small serrations fits the corner of a Sharpmaker rod.

I used the SS diamond rods before to cut in a small choil at the edge-ricasso margin on O1 steel (hardened that is!) and it worked just fine

Thanks for the help and advice. Thanks barman. i think i'm going to try the congress triangle stone.
