I have a 1095 high carbon steel knife. Can I use spray paint on it under the scales to keep it from rusting like they do with powder coatings?

A would like to do a powder coating but I don't have access to the equipment required for it.

Is there a type of coating that I can use that does not require special equipment?

I don't want to put on a patina or anything like that. I would just like to spray or paint something on it that is as affective against rust as a powder coating.

Spray paint would probably work but Epoxy would probably work better for you.
