Can the Cold Steel Lawman be "flipped open"?

Many lockblade folders can be flipped open, if the handle is held between the fingers at the right point and an appropriate flipping wrist action is employed. However, my Cold Steel Mini Lawman is darned difficult (read that practically impossible) to open that way, due to a rather strong spring that holds it closed. It's doable, but really tough.

However, it may be easier to do with the full size Lawman, due to a heavier blade weight.

If you have any experience with the Lawman in this regard, please fill me in.

Thanks,

Though its probably not going to hurt this knife that type of opening is abusive.

When I had my AL I could thumb flick it with almost no wrist movement. The blade is fairly light even on the larger version plus the spring will probably be stronger too, I don't think it will be any easier and IIRC I couldn't do what you are saying with mine.

The Mini Lawman with the Tri-Ad lock is one strong lock. Arguably the strongest lock on any of the blades I own. I have no idea how strong comparatively speaking the titanium frame lock on my Benchmade MPR 755 is, or on the Zero Tolerance 0300 is, they are both friggin' strong.

In any case, the CS with the Tri-Ad lock I just consider a hard use knife, especially considering the price point. What you consider abuse is very likely so, however on the CS with the tri-ad, I basically can't open it that way anyhow, but if the Lawman is relatively easier to open that way, it would be on my to-buy list in a minute.

FWIW, I derive a perverse sort of pleasure using the CS Mini-Lawman to open open beer and soda cans with. Just jam it through the top, and twist... Awesome!! LOL

If it breaks one day, so what...

P.S. My warranty on the CS ML is long gone. After I scraped the blade coating off, sanded it down and Scotch Brited it, and grooved the scales, the warranty was no more. However, I like the knife now. Before the modding, I was seriously considering returning it. Now, well, I like it, a lot...

Send me your AL and I'll wave it free with paid return shipping.

Thanks Charlie Mike, but I like it the way it is. Adding a wave to it isn't really necessary. Has a very satisfying click when it locks open, btw. That sound and feel are addictive...

The Tri-Ad lock has major retention. They're all a pain to flick, lol, and once you get used to it you'll break every other folder because you're using way too much force! :D

I got a Recon 1 tri-ad version, and it's not real smooth, hard to flick it open.
Then I got a Rajah III, and it opens as smooth and slick as any liner lock.
So i'm not sure what the difference is, unless the lock bar drags on the G10, but doesn't on the Rajah's steel liners? There is a huge difference between how easy each one opens up. No side to side play in either one, pivots are set properly.
