Can the Izula handle the 3's jobs?

Hi folks. I got my Izula last week , and I love it ! Super handy size , and great ergos. I've used it around the yard and at home, but not in the bush yet. I was thinking of springing for the 3 in DT, but was wondering if some of you guys with an Izula and a 3 find that the izula can handle small bush chores AS WELL as the 3. I'm asking this because I'm pushing my blade budget , and to make matters worse, my supplier is almost out of the 3 I was looking at. I have some 4's and a 6 to handle the bigger stuff ; just wanted some feed back on the Izzy and the 3 in comparison.
ps. I don't want the micarta scales on my Izula.
Thx.

hi, the izula is very capable but some things i prefer the 3 for especially food prep, and i can do more things comfortably with the larger handle of the 3. the 3 is one of my favorite knives.

the izula is a thicker blade, so it can handle pretty much handle even more abuse than the 3, but the 3 has more reach which in some instances (batoning for example) means that it can handle more load, and there for more use.

I have a 3 and an izula. My 3 definitely sees less use now that I have an izula, but for camping, or longer hikes the 3 is what I'd rather carry because of the more comfortable handle, and extra reach.

Both blades are superb, but neither can really replace the other. The izula is one tough tight small package, where as the rc3 is a tough, comfortable, slicer that makes a hell of a bush knife. there isn't much overlap of use IMO bu its your choice!

Thanks guys. I figured that the 3 might be a little more versatile because of the larger handle. The Izula definately makes a great EDC and backup blade , but I think I'd feel a little undergunned with just that in the bush.

I have a feeling my Esee collection is gonna get bigger ! ;)

someone just posted work with the Izula thread and i'd say that is a really nice knife to have... and it looks like it can take a nice beating... :D

to answer your question:
yes, it can ... but the 3 can sure make your bush experience somewhat more enjoyable, because it is more comfortable to use in the long run.

If you're going to do a lot of cutting through harder material (wood, that is), the work will be less tiring using a 3.

If you have a 4 or 6 with you anyway, the Izula should be fine for handling small tasks.
Izzy & 4 or Izzy & 6 is a great combo. (Izzy & 6 in a pack kit is even better!)
3 & 6 is a great combo, too.
3 & 4 are a bit too close together in size IMHO.

and if you wait 10 minutes, someone will stop by and expound on the benefits of the HEST... :)
