I bet the warranty will be voided on most knives if you disassemble it, but how can they know?

is it just so people wont pick their knives apart, and having to send it in to be assembled?

They cant tell, Your 100% right, they say that so you dont take it apart forget where it goes lose the peaces and send it back and say "its defective look its missing 90% of the screws" or some crap like that.

My friend has taken apart his kershaw oso sweet when the speed safe broke to see if he could do it and he couldnt so he reassembled and sent it to kershaw and he had no problems,

Some folks have no business taking things apart. They know just enough to get themselves into trouble. When you do this, the person that has to fix your knife, has to stop whatever they were doing (usually making knives) to correct your mistake. Some companies will charge you a fee to reassemble it. A warranty covers materials and craftsmanship. Craftsmanship is the term used to define the process of assembling your knife in the first place.

Actually they can tell. Have you ever seen a high magnification camera? Use them all the time.

they dont have the time or want to use the effort to do that to every single thing u send in for repair... maybe if you send back a 500$ knife but for any normal production knife its cheaper easier and makes satisfied customers to just fix or replace it if its not obviously abused.
