I thought I remebered a thread about a modification to a Kershaw Leek that made it essentially a non-assisted opener. I can't seem to find any such thread now though. Is there modification like this that can be done?

A Leak with a liner-lock doesn't have a detent in the blade tang. (It does have the ball detent on the lock-bar) This means it will not say closed very well without the torsion bar (spring). I can't speek for all Leaks, but this is how mine is set-up. *The frame-lock version might be different, but I can't see Kershaw using different blades for both lock designs. Maybe someone with a frame-lock will post.

i started a post like that, it was called "unassisting a leek"
wasnt much info in that

the results of that thread were basicly, besides taking out the torsion bar, you would need to punch or drill a detent in the blade and possibly replace the detent ball for a bigger one.

the existing detent ball is only there for keeping the lock bar from scratching the blade.
