Can the "report post" function be used on off topic posts?

If someone posted a thread about shaving in, say, General Knife Discussion, would it be appropriate to report the post and ask for it to be moved to the correct subforum?

Yes and we appreciate it. We (mods) can't read every post. We depend on people using the report function to help keep the ship sailing.

Thanks for the clarification! On the actual "report post" page, it says: "Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts."
If you changed the message to include off-topic posts, you would probably have more people using the function.

Dan, I believe that is the default text for the forum software.you can report vulgar language in the general discussion forums, selling outside the exchange, etc. we like to keep threads and posts in their respective locations, so people can find what they need when they go to a certain spot. Thanks!
