So just got my Benchmade 525 Presidio. Like the knife a lot but the factory edge leaves much to be desired. I knew when ordering that the edge would be hit or miss as unfortunately that seems to be the case with Benchmade (no one had it local to look at first).
The bevel at the front is thicker and as you get closer to the handle the bevel becomes thinner and the angle more obtuse and also is not sharp in this area. Would this edge be easy to reprofile without removing too much material so that it would be easier for me to maintain on my Sharpmaker at the 40 degree setting?
I was thinking of sending it to Richard J as he has good feedback on here. My other option is to return it and buy another one and hope for a better edge but thats a crapshoot.
