can this be fixed, broken scale

This Remington knife belonged to my grandfather and is one of my favorites. Sadly somewhere along the line the back scale was broken as shown in the picture. Does anyone do repairs of this type? Is there a chance of matching the appearance of the worn front scale?

It might be possible to patch it. I would have to have the knife in hand.
