I purchased this 5" blade x 9-5/8" OA knife today from the estate of a ww2 veteran and assumed it was military but it does not have any markings other than Camillus NY. I guess what made me think military was the bakelite pommel and the metal conservation during the big one. The steel is a bit stained but it is otherwise nice, it never been ground post manufacture and it is not parkerized despite the color in the photos. Does anyone know when it may have been made or any model number designation. Thanks!

This knife is a WWII era Mark 1 knife with the parkerized blade and bakelite pommel.

Thanks for both your responces however the photo is a bit deceptive. It only looks parkerized in the photo shown. I thought it might be ww2 era but I had never seen a bakelite pommel. I appreciate the confirmation. I also enjoyed the "Camillus Knives that went to war" post. I've seen the folding machette before and regret not buying the Case version when I had the chance.

The blade appeared to be parkerized in the photo. The early Mark 1 knives had parkerized blades. As WWII progressed the specifications were changed on the Mark 1 and the blades were not parkerized and were made with a glazed finish. The Mark 1 was also made with an aluminum pommel.
