Hello,
Has anyone ever asked Chris Reeve to send them some blade washers or some of the lanyard cord used with the Sebenza? I rather not send my knife in for such a small request.
Thanks

Chris Reeve Knives will send you any part for a small charge. But when I asked for a screw for the pocket clip, they sent it to me for free. (Such good service!)

If I`m not mistaken, they won`t send out any "essential" parts, as they need to be custom fitted. For instance blades, pivots and that like. IIRC CRK does sell washers individually, though.

This would make sense as a precision knife such as the
Sebenza is most likely fitted to the stack up of tolerances for all the pieces and then given .003" for blade movement when pivots and screws are tightened down through the assembly. The only way to get this kind of fitment is to individually fit, hence (the new cost for the knife justified) machining time.

Andrew,

You are correct, CR will not sell washers, they need to be fitted to each knife.

550 paracord, which is whats used for most knife lanyards can be purchased online pretty cheap, but, the only drawback is payign for shipping...when I buy it I buy 100 FT at a time for @ $7...but there are so many colors to choose form, some sites sell it by the foot...

I don't think that the washers need to be fitted to knife. The problem is that if not properly installed, they can make the knife very hard to open. The knife is designed to be easy to take apart and reassemble. But I have found that it can be tricky and if not placed back exactly right it won't work. It takes some patience to get it right. I think some customers take the sebbie apart and have a hard time putting it back together and blame it on the washer when in fact their technique is to blame. All the washers are speced the same.

well I do know that texax knife supply sells bronze phosforous washers for knives...you might want to do a google search for them...

Thanks for the replies. I received some lanyard cord today, I don’t think it could have gotten here any quicker! Heather told me washers would have to be fitted to my knife so it would have to be sent in. I’ve taken my knife apart a few times for cleaning and have had no problems reassembling it. I was just looking for some spares to have on hand.
Great knife, great service!
Thanks again.
