Can we believe what Ernest R. Emerson says?

Greetings Usual Suspects.

Although I have been lurking in the shadows of this forum for a while, this is the first time I am posting.
I am by no means a knife collector, but I do have an eye for a good, solid working knife.
I also like to know whom I buy from and what the company stands for.

When I read Ernie Emerson’s intro at the Emerson website, I was convinced.
His ideals, as put in the opening paragraph, coincide with my philosophy on life as you can see by my signature.
I trust the man, his company and their products.

I have searched extensively for a new EDC.
Today my very own CQC7A – plain edge - no paint – green handle arrived from Mike at New Graham.
(I won’t I tell you the price, because you won’t believe me anyway.)
What a knife.
Man is it tough or what!
Well made.
Well finished off.
This baby makes my Benchmades look like sheeple friendly toys.
I am hooked.
She is a beauty.

So, can we believe Mr. Emerson when he says:
“Every time you use an Emerson Knife, count yourself in the select company of those individuals who will never compromise and can never, ever settle for second best.
They will not let you down. They will not fail you. I will not allow it.”

The answer is:
From what I’ve seen – for sure!

After an invitation from 2Sharp I would be proud to become a Usual Suspect in due course.

Hey fellow Ozzie!

Glad you like it! This model was my first emmie as well. Funny you should mention your feelings as encountered when you recieved the knife, mine were exactly the same. It was just a pure thrill to hold it and without going into too much detail, you could feel the quality and design efforts as put into even a production blade within minutes of handling.

Well, I have been busy since, as I have only had the CQC7A-(BTS) a few weeks. The following I have coming my way through trade deals and purchases from fellow forumites..

Mach 1 - recieved & SWEET!!!
Raven A/B - early next week
CQC7B - next week

in the works, commanders and PUK.

I love you Santa!

I do not know what it is, but I am selling all my 'other' tools to aquire a few of these perfect peices of work, USERS and COLLECTORS. I have grown that fond of them.

See you in the forums buddy.

cheers

Ohhhhhhh you're hooked and you're hooked baaaad :)

Welcome aboard you two.

Seems like we're getting an influx of Aussie people in here all of a sudden! Emerson_Girl (Bel) and now you two. You should all start a Usual Suspect Australia Chapter :)

Ross T.

I do not know if it's worth setting up an Australian EK chapter....I would miss visiting this one too much!

...yes, yes I am hooked, but what a way to lead to divorce court! Just kidding, even my wife likes the 'sleek lines' of the 'brand' (Her words, not mine).

Anyway, I plan on getting more involved with EK discussions in the near future. Hope to talk some more.

(By the way, I think that the initiation requirements for becoming a usual suspect are against the law in Australia, so probably not a good idea to start a seperate forum up - ha ha ha)

CYA, and thanks for the welcome..

Oh I wasn't suggesting starting up a new forum to take you guys away from this one. We'd miss our upside down counter parts too much :)

A new chapter would be just a formality.......Wait a minute?!?!? One word that doesn't fit with being a Usual Suspect is formal. So forget with the formalities :D

Oh and about the legalities of the initiation rites :D Who said anything about us wantin' to be legal!?!?!?!? (Insert EVIL LAUGH here)

Ross T.

Fellow Suspects,

As we seem to be being invaded by a number of Colonial ex-criminals, who worry about being legal, should we come up with a special form of the ritual for them. I was thinking would it be okay to replace the goat with a sheep (or Roo) and a large quantity of Larger type beer?

We need to think about this before it becomes a problem. :p

Regards,

Ed

PS Welecome to Emerson Land Guys.... :D

edmoses, Don’t do that – been practicing on a goat for weeks now.
Kiwis have a monopoly on the sheep.
A sexy little wombat – well now, that’s another story.

Remind me of the 2 stockmen who work on a large station (farm) here in the outback.
Only get to town maybe once or twice a year.
As always they head for the pub on arrival in the little outback town.
Looking out of the window they see that a shop across the road, that had been empty for years, was now occupied.
Big sign out the front. “Taxidermist” it says.
Bruce looks at Norm and asks if he knows what a “taxidermist” would be.
Norm shakes his head and says that he will go and find out.
Crosses the street and enters the shop.
Counter with bloke behind it.
On being asked what they actually do the bloke answers that they stuff things.
What kind of things, Norm wants to know.
Oh, all kinds of animals. Goats, deer, sheep I whatever they can get, is the answer.
What about Wombats, Norm wants to know.
Yes, Wombats as well – is the answer.
Norm returns to the pub.
Says to Bruce that the blokes across the road are stockmen, just like them!

Ha ha ha....

Did ya hear the one about the bloke.....na, forget it. I can not tell a good yarn if my life depended on it.

Have a good weekend fellow suspectorians.

:D

Uhm, oupa, I think the spirit of the initiation has eluded you, but you seem to fit right in so, welcome aboard!

BTW, I have it on good authority that all Emerson knives shipped "down under" are built with the blade on the other side so they'll work properly for you.

How much more could you ask from a knife company?
:D

maybe a little of-topic, but, oupa and emerson_girl, do aussies really say things like g'day, and is Fosters really Aus for beer? or is that just P.R.? and does yer blood rush to yer feets when ya been standin too long and then ya siddown real fast? i mean, yer upside down an all, right? as for aussies buying emms, (or anyone, fer that matter), are ya familiar w/ discountknives.com? lowest prices+guaranteed or 10% off! no i still don't work there (hmmmm, what an idea!)
best Holiday wishes to all, etc....

Man, that's like asking if our Swedish Suspects are expert cow killers. You be the judge. :p

Rekatjack mate,

I have yet to see an Aussie drink Fosters.
The vast majority here drink a "bitter" beer, not a Lager.

As far as discount knives goes - I got my very first knife from Brian (?) but after that he totally ignored any e-mails.
I have found that Mike at New Graham has beaten his prices on occation.

Do all Americans say Howdy doody partner?

And Finally we do not walk upsidedown - you do!

oupa....stand up Americans often say Howdy doody...let me explain. We all have a duty...some folks will shirk their duty, others will perform their duty, but only if forced too...the stand up guy will not walk away from their duty, but face it 'toe to toe' and say.......yea, you guessed it.."Howdy duty"

As for walking upsidedown..only if we have had too many Fosters...:D
