Can we please get a Trident with a metal handle?

I emailed you guys a while ago (after returning my trident when my handle started falling apart like my friend's did) explaining why I would never own another SOG again until your company made it with a handle made of metal, rather than plastic (and yes, GRN is plastic). Since then, I've bought a bunch of CRKTs but the trident, with the exception of the handle, was always my favorite knife (and the strap cutter is useless as well).

THEN I had heard that your company made the "Trident Elite". I thought that for sure you had listened and made a knife with a metal handle, but you made the trident even dumber. I looked in the sky, said "why god", and got over it.

But now I want to get some opinions on this, would anyone else buy a trident with a metal handle?

I didn't get any email from you? You do realize that this is basically a fan forum right?

But to answer your question, Nope. I like GRN handles if they are priced right. I like them on the Flash II, Aegis, Spec Elite II (with metal liners), Seal Pup (both Taiwanese and Seki versions), Seal Team, and Seal 2000. Putting metal handles on the lite SAT technology folders would defeat part of their purpose, IE lite weight. The Flash did have an aluminum handled version I believe. Maybe look into that. Also the Flash Back has a semi metal handle, so that might be an option.

I know some people swear by the Trident FOLDER (remember there is a fixed blade with the same name). I never got into it. Handle to blade ratio just seemed off to me and I didn't like the cut out in the handle. A metal handle would make me pick one up any more, in fact the opposite.

If you don't mind me asking, what is it that you are doing with your Trident Folder that the handle would fall apart?

Thanks for the new info, in either case I had been carving down birch for a bow. After one day of that, they blade had so much play I decided to get rid of it (and tightening does nothing, it is the matter of the plastic cracking). My friend in the Marines got the desert version, gave the blade a little wiggle, and complained it was loose. After a couple weeks for him of sitting on his desk and occasionally cutting paracord, we noticed that you could wiggle the tip of the blade about half an inch because it doesn't have a metal frame. He gave it back after 2 weeks. We both share the opinion and now both own CRKTs because of it (M21-14SF for me, M16-14DSFG for him)

The only knife I have ever returned after purchase was the Sog Trident folder. The blade play was
unacceptable to me. I am of the belief that there is a flaw in the A/O system.
However rather than write off all SOG folders after that I purchased a Spec Elite II. I quickly learned
two things, one is that the Seki made folders are a completely different animal from the A/O models,
and two; I can wrist flick these folders faster than any of my BM, ZT, Kershaw A/O knives.
The SOG seki models cost about twice as much as the Trident but are worth the money in my view.

So the handle didn't fall apart as you initially said. The knife had blade play. This is very common in the plastic handled SAT folders from SOG. A little research will show you that. Of the SAT folders I have, I can dial the play out with adjusting the pivot in all but my most used Flash II (Carried everyday for 3 years). I don't recommend the SAT folders from SOG unless there is a design you just must have (like the Aegis, simply EDC perfection). At their price, and for the materials plus blade play you get, there are better options. And like Ken said, the Seki SOG folders are in a different class than the SAT folders.

I do have some SOG folders but by far I am a SOG fixed blade guy.
