How does one decipher the code of what texture is what type of steel?
I feel dumb cause I just can’t identify the differences.
And some knives have a lot more spalting, where others have very little showing. There’s gotta be a secret to understanding this.
Below are two different knives- how do you identify which steel they are?
A little help here, guys?

Also - spalting can be different even if two knives are made from the same steel.
And some of the older O-1 can have more defined spalting and can look more like some of the newer A-2.

All the triangles in the hammer texture on the CPM154, Nitro V, and from what I can tell the AEB-L give them away. From what I am able to see on the website, looking at the one I'm in love with but can't afford  🤣,the Magnacut seems to take the splating better than the other stainless steels, or Andy may have a different hammer texture for Magnacut.

Just grab that Bushboot. It looks mighty lonely. 😁

LOL, Oh how I wish I could! It's a grail for a number of reasons, and would be great in wild medicinal plant harvest photos.

But the timing is just all wrong. My income just got reconfigured 4 weeks ago after being injured last Thanksgiving. I had to either go back to 5 days or drop to 3 so they could hire someone for 2 days. And I was only doing 4 days because 5 was too much and they needed the help. So I just lost $800 a month in pay, and I still have to pay $700 a month for two more years on my first ever auto loan for a jeep at age 58 when I started it two years ago, plus I just put tires on it.

Trust me, I have considered selling a Jericho II or a Randall #11 to fund it, but I just can't risk selling them only to have someone else buy it before I could get to it. There isn't anything else available I want that bad. I even thought about asking Andy if he would hold one of them till I got the BB paid off, but that isn't his business model.

Lol, the only reason I have the EMK knives you may have seen me use in the W&SS posts I do is because Ed and I go back several years, we're Bible study companions, and he loves me like a brother, so he will let me make payments... and I had more money coming in and could pay them off quickly

I'm working on finding a 3 days a week part time job on this side of the county, now that I know Alayna's class schedule for this coming semester. If it's meant to be mine it will still be there when I figure out how to fund it. If not, another Bushboot will come along eventually.
