Hello Gang,
While I was in the process of a normal day wearing one of my favorite EDC fixed blade Bob Dozier's, I caught the handle of the knife on a seat belt as I was disembarking out of the vehicle.

What is the method or options of methods to repair such a flaw on ones kydex sheath??

Thanks in advance on any and all assistance you folks may be able to provide here for me!.

Be Safe,
Anthony

take a hot air paint stripper and a soft foam camping matras and two wooden boards. Wrap the blade with duct tape. Place one board on the ground, place the foam matras on the board, Insert the knife, heat the sheath gently till it starts to become flexible and quickly place it on the foam, fold the rest of the foam over it and put the wooden board on top. Stand on the board for 10 minues, your sheath has been formed to match YOUR knife exactly

Umm. You haven't said what happened to the sheath. Did it tear (unlikely), or did you pop some rivets? Photos help a lot, but a description of the actual damage would suffice for most of us.

Mongo-man: Thank You, that may just work..

partridge: Thank You, (great question) Yes, the plastic around the one rivit right below the handle on my 'type A' / 'horizonal carry kydex sheath' partially tore away from the rivit and now the sheath will not hold the knife snug any more as it originaly did.

EDITED TO ADD: <> I will put a photo up tomorrow to show exact area of dis-repair. <>

Looked at an image of the type A. The rivet provides the compressing that helps keep the knife in. You're probably gonna have to drill the rivet out, then replace it, putting a washer or something over the damaged area.. If the kydex just pulled off the rivet, then just replacing the rivet might do it.

If the hole is not completly torn out I would install a chicago type screw with a plastic washer to allow adjusting the tension on the blade. If the hole is too damaged drill a new one and use the chicago screw. Then either cover, cut out or fuse the old hole.
