Can you baton with a BK13?

Well I decided to find out as I tested out my new knife.

First I had to wrap it and put it on a lanyard. I don't like the fact I can't wrap the full handle or else it doesn't fit in the sheath.

First I got straight to it and wanted to see if it could handle a little beating. I tried to baton a 2x6 and the blade beat down into the wood easy enough, but not enough of the balde stuck out to drive it all the way down. Si went and got a smaller piece

no problem.

I wanted to see if the blade remained sharp after the pounding so I started carving into the aforementioned 2x6. I'm pretty sure I could have carved all the way through it if I wanted to, it sliced like it like it was cheese.

I moved out to a stick to see if the blade would still slice up thin slivers on a piece of oak. Yep no problem still sharp

So into my PSK it goes replacing the necklance.

Fits perfect.

Cool testing! I need to get my good BK13 out more and do this kind of stuff.

Hope nobody thinks I'm weird for this tidbit. A BK13 makes a great paring knife. The BK9 I purchased came with a free BK13. The free BK13 of course had no sheath, and I replaced the one for my BK9. So the little BK13 stays in the kitchen riding in the knife block. Of course I do have more than one BK13, and need to get the other one out for some fieldwork.

If you cut the sheath back a little you'll be able to get a higher wrap on the handle, just don't cut out the spot where the blade locks into the sheath.
