Anyone tried it? I'd be worried as the blade seems pretty thin at the tip.
I'm not really intending to try, but it would be good to know if it would survive it.
My feeling is its a good cutter but maybe not a wood splitter. Am I wrong?

Only in an emergency would I try such a thing.

Possible, I suppose.

Doesn't seem likely that I'll ever do it.

yes some have done it
i have also but you can break it
tough as they are,
110's are not indestructible !

It's possible but not advisable. I've done it with the 110 and some other folders from different brands.

The best way to do it is to lay the tip end over the piece of wood and whack the folder near the ricasso end of the blade. This puts less stress on the locking mechanism.

You need to be gentle and try to avoid knots, as the tip is too thin and fragile to hold up to much of this and it's easy to damage the knife's internals.

Another method involves leaving the knife unlocked.

Spend $20 and buy a hatchet, you'll be happier in the long run. Keep your 110 as the knife it is built to be.

I am sure it could be done but it would eventually damage the knife IMHO, a few minutes of time to fasion a wooden wedge to go with your batton and maybe just start the split with the knife.

I've never batonned with a 110.

But then I've never batonned any knife. (Never a shortage of dry wood in the southwest. There might be shortage of wood, but what wood there is, is dry.)

If I were going to baton a 110, I believe I would baton it with the lock unlocked so as not to overstress it. How the blade itself would react to batonning I do not know.

You might just cut off your fingers that way.
