Can you buy a replacement blade ?

Dern...

Man, you used it hard didn't ya? What type and extent of use did you put that knife through to cause it to wear so much? How did it stand up (as far as blade wobble and lock performance)?

I used it as a daily carry knife for about a year and as well used it as a standard it all the reviews I did during that time. I would get sharpened often as when I do a comparison I like to have a fresh edge. This means that sometimes it would get reground 2-4 times a day.

After that I gave it to my brother who has carried it for over a year and has used it extensively. It was also put on a belt sander during that period as the edge had grown excessively think because of all the sharpenings.

The lock is still solid, passes spine whack and white knuckle tests, and there is no blade play.

Well, if it has stood up that long then it must be a good one. What am I saying? of course it is, it's a spydie...

BTW, I am a fan of your knife tests. Very academic...

Hey Cliff!
I like your version better than the stocker. Nice handy "sheepsfoot" blade now.

The main problem with the blade is not the shape, in fact I agree and like the current shape for a couple of reasons. The main complaint about it is that the edge degrades too quickly and requires too much sharpening. I was hoping to be able to upgrade to a VG-10 blade. Of course the obvious solution is to buy another one, but neither I nor the actual owner would like to retire this blade if possible as everything else about it is near perfect and ti just seems wrong to do so.

Matt, thanks.

Cliff,
I KNOW what you meant! I just want to know, is there ANY humor, (or "humour" as in your Queen's english), in you intellectuals? I like it Cliff when a smile MIGHT creep across your face.

Hi Cliff. Wow. I think you just plumb wore it out! Sorry, can't make the change, two different knives. However, I can prsonally say that IMO the Calypso jr in VG10 with the light weight handle is hard to beat.

Ok, I'll just buy the new one, give that to my brother and trade the old one off to someone who doesn't need to use a blade all that frequently.

I have a Calypso Jr in VG10 clipped to my back pocket now. I converted it (as designed) to left hand use even though I am right handled. It is a great knife. Thanks Sal
