Hey guys. I've never handled a GW but I'm considering buying one, and it will be my 1st Busse. Can you wrap all 4 fingers around the warden handle? Does your pinky dangle a little bit or does it feel secure? Thanks ya'll.

fits pretty good in my hand.

I love the blade size, overall length, and thickness of the Game Warden , Active Duty, and Meaner Streets. I just wish they had more of a guard. It is the only thing that has kept me from keeping and using any of them. I was field dressing a buck last year and my hand slipped forward and I received a nice cut becuase the knife I was using at the time had a very slick guard that didnt really catch your hand at all. It was a Leaner Meaner Street, and my hand was wet with blood, but after that I only use a knife where the guard will stop my hand from sliding forward. I do like the various Badger Attack versions for that reason though

edited to add that Im not blaming it all on the blade, I should have known better than to put that much forward pressure on a knife of that style with wet hands.

mogmz you are right!
Any AD, HD, MLS or GW with bigger guard would be my drime come true! Although I still love my HD and porbably will love my GW when it finally arrives...

I cannot get any kind of useful grip on the GW with my little finger. For all practical purposes, it is a three finger knife for me. I still like the little sucker, though.

I can easily get all four fingers around the wardens even with a firm grip (got big hands too). Feels perfectly comfortable using 3 or 4 fingers - great all around knife.

Ditto, sweet knife with a perfect handle size for the med to large hand club.

My hands fit perfect w/just about any grip on my GW. My mits are pretty large and I find this a very usefull knife.

I would think that a loop or lanyard of the right size would address the slipping issues. I don't hunt but have cleaned some big fish with blades that do not have guards. Actually I like a partially serrated knife for big fish to deal with bone and cartilage.

Just a recomendation here, but why not buy one and then sell it for what it cost you if it doesn't work. Heck if you can pick one up at retail you'd be able to make 5 or 10 percent on top.
Busse knives are a no risk investment.

I had the same problem with a well used MS.

The upshot is, Chase Axinn refinished the knife for a 'show and tell' type of thread.

The grips were almost smooth and there was perhaps 30% of the finish left.

Wish I had pics.

Long story short, satin finish for the blade, new grooves cut in the micarta, and most important, some file work done on the spine.

That file work was dramatic in keeping your hand from wanting to slide foward. At least your thumb. LOL

Before though, if you jabbed something your hand wanted to keep on going.

Seriously considering it for the new GW.
