was just wondering if you can get custom scales for either smf's or sng's. anyone ever hear of anything like this?

I have seen pimps but I'd leave Striders stock.

Agreed. I don't believe there is anyone that is just flat out producing strider custom scales, but pimpers such as tuffthumbz and so-lo could definitely do something for you. With that said, any pimping past simply bolting on a scale will void strider's world class warranty, so keep that in mind.

I think if you even bolt on a scale that isn't factory to your knife you can void the warranty(talking about folding blades here) Like others have said I wouldn't risk it either, too good of a warranty.

I think Cuscadi makes scales for Strider. I wouldn't want to void the warranty, but it would be possible to swap out the scale and then swap the other back if warranty service was needed.

They discourage even taking the knife apart, knife companies have ways of telling if the knife has been taken apart or not, while taking it apart won't void your warranty, If you screw something up by doing so they will charge you for the repairs, bottom line it's your knife, you paid for it so if you want a custom scale go for it.

i've looked this up so many times and keep getting contradicting answers!! i've heard people say that strider recommends never taking the knife apart but even if you do you wont void the warranty, like what you said. and then i have heard people say that taking the knife apart will void the warranty and strider will be able to tell if you have since they loctite everything.
which one is true????
cause i for sure as hell do NOT want to mess up that warranty, s'like half the cost of the knife!!

My recommendation? Just email them. I'd imagine they'd be more than happy to tell you what they expect out of owners of their knives.
