Hi All,

First post, i found this little folding knife in my partners shed and it has a mark on the tang, i googled knife maker marks and its a minefield, i was wondering if you all have any favourite resources you use to identify knifes etc, hope you can see the image https://imgur.com/a/V0A5EbJ

Use imgr. Upload. Hold press and hold the image. Click copy url. Go to BF. Click the little image with the mountain and sun. Paste into bar. It will populate before you send it.n

It's just a cheap little lockback, in more of the style of a Schrade than a Buck with the shape of the front bolster.
Made in Japan most likely but could have been made in Pakistan, and China if it's a bit newer.

Doesn't appear to be of very good quality.
Notice how the blade doesn't open perfectly flush and parallel, and compare that to this Buck model 55.
This is what you wanna see from a good lockback.

cool thanks for the reply, i was really more interested in the fact that it has a mark and in the resources used to identify quality makers etc :)
I don't mean to be a smart ass outright.....but, I would say Blade Forums itself is one of the best resources available to identify quality makers.
Hang around, browse as many of the sub-forums as you can, and be sure to show respect and follow the rules.
Do that and I suspect you'll be showing off sprint runs and custom gems within the year with lots of knowledge to go with. :)

Be careful not to talk your significant other's head off with knife knowledge. They love you, your knives are great, but they DO NOT CARE.
We care, and we'd love to hear all about your knives while we share a few of our own.
Welcome to Blade Forums!! :) Please ensure your financial affairs are in order. ;):D
