I can't find any info online or pictures but I used to have this really cool knife and I want to find another one. I was told it was a ''russian assassination knife'' it was big like a bowie knife but it was a folder with an extension on the handle for the blade and when open the extension folded into the handle to lock it open. Any info? What kind of knife was it?

sounds like a design used on Marbles knives in the past(drawing a blank on what model knife).

I found a couple pictures of what you are talking about. it was similar but much bigger. like a foot long when opened. It actually came from the blade show in atlanta in like 04 or 05

I'm not a folder man, but this design is an exception.

I like the design but I can't seem to find the knife in question. The model number on the tang corresponds to a fixed blade now.

I would like to know more, as well.

If the extension locks into the blade tang somehow, it has the makings of a very strong lock...

Look up Marble's Safety Hunting knife, that was the most popular and widely available. They were also copied quite in Asia, India, and Pakistan. I haven't seen any Russian versions, but they do make a lot of interesting knives.

The Benchmade LFK works on a similar idea, but the knife is a liner lock. On the Marble's, the extension folds back to form a tang block. The other foreign models usually use the same idea too.

Here's a nice look at the reproduction Marble's version -

I thought the Schrade extreme line was a Chinese knockoffs?

Well I was thinking off writing knockoff knockoff, but it seemed a bit cumbersome :). Anyway, those seem only available through the Chinese knockoff houses, and no through Taylor.
