I just picked up a Benchmade bali in a trade. I think it's in the 30 series, but I don't think it's a 30 or 35. It is the same size as my BM30. Mirror polish weehawk blade, butterfly logo w/ BALISONG in it on one side, BENCHMADE U.S.A. on the other side. Heres where the difference comes in, it has the pins like the 30 does, yet the holes in the handle are countersunk like those of a 35. If you have any ideas let me know, I can get a scan up tomorrow if you'd like, but it looks just like a regular 30 series.
Thanks,
Tique

You must definitely get pictures!! The only thing I can think of that it is is that someone countersunk the holes themselves (it being a BM 30). Does it look like the countersunk holes of other BM balisongs?

You know, I got to thinking and that's what I came up with too. It's probably a BM30 that someone countersunk the holes on, but it looks damn good. I hope I can get the scan to show it decently. I'll put it beside my other 30 to see if you can see the difference. The countersinks look like they were cut in, I don't know how BM did them, but they look better than the ones on my 42, very smooth.

I like the countersunk holes on the 45 better than the 42 but I think it's just the different handle material. I'm looking forward to the pictures.

Actually, BM used a different countersinking method for the 42 as opposed to the 45 and older balis.

My collection

I decided to come home early and get some scans up. I only have a few as it is almost 2, I still have stuff to do, and my scanner is giving me **** tonight. If you would like to see more, let me know and I'll get them up later. I think I'm in love with these little things now, and if you have a 30 or 35 that needs a good home, I'll provide a nice, safe environment with plenty of TLC and friends for it

, just send me an email and we'll see what we can do

The one that has the countersunk holes is the modified one(obviously) it doesn't show up crystal and the scan doesn't do it justice, but you can see what I'm talking about. I may try to take some pics if I get artsy with my camera and scan them in later so it can be seen better with a few other members of my collection.

The ones on the bottom are of the modified BM30
Had to add, sorry about the size of the scans, wasn't thinking, but not gonna redo it tonight.
Also, I'm still thinking W.

It would only be a guess, using my half-vast knowledge, but it looks like someone used a countersink bit and did a fine job of relieving the large holes. They are of uniform size and are smooth which indicate to me the use of power equipment and a depth-stop.......It's a nice example of a BM30 you have there!

Oh, so the 42 could have the look of the countersunk holes like the 45 if they hadn't changed.

Too bad they did change.

[Cameron still pissed at his scanner for not making his BM balis look good]

I'm going to contact HP in a few minutes to see what the deal is with my scanner and why I can't get the scans to look half-way decent....maybe I should just get a digital camera.
