One more thing...the bite and safe handles are reveresed...

I dont know if that was done originally or if someone repinned it wrong, but the pins look to be original....

There's nothing wrong with the latch location. This particular balisong simply has a "Manila Style" latch. True, this is less-common. But it's still valid.

From what I have been told. The Frost Company bought out a knife factory in Germany, and moved a lot of the machinery to Pakinstan, about 12 to 15 years ago. Back then, they use to make Butterfly knives in the 5" & 2" SIZE. It was not a very popular item, because Taylor was importing butterfly knives from Japan at the time, that were considerably nicer, for not much more money. The Pakinstan retailed for about $10 and the Japan for about $20. Also, the Pakinstan Butterflys were very stiff out of the factory and the people who bought them, had to work with them quite a bit to get them to swing properly. I have not seen them imported for at least 10 years, and that maybe because of customs at the time, was not letting any butterfly or Balisong knives into the country. Even when they started to let them in again, after a lot of court battles, you do not see near as many coming in from Japan, and none from Pakinstan. Mostly just Taiwan and China. For the most part, Frost just does not import them anymore, and I don't know what happened to the Taylor company. I think they quit bringing them in, even though they won the court battle at the time.

The handles look like the ones on balisongs the German company Stahlwarenhaus Haller used to make. They still produce balisongs, so they might be able to help you with any questions (I don´t have their address though). Maybe Frost bought the old machinery from Haller and these are still used in Pakistan, as JohnR7 said.

The pic looks exactly like my Taylor G968, Manila latch and all. They grow on you, in fact when I get my BM-42, I will be sending it in to have them switch the handles!

Well, i think it's up for sale...I'll prolly post it in the FOR SALE/TRADE section

I'll give you guys first dibs though...kind of like a jumpstart...

I'll also try and get some better pics for it..

I've got a Walt Erickson custom that has the two tang pins; I think all of his knives did......
