You have a Kabar 1184 folding hunter. These were popular in the late 70s-early 80s. Believe they came with a leather sheath. Looks like a previous owner scratched their name into one of the scales.
 
Actually 1184 is a Cole National number used after 1966. Model numbers did not get stamped on the blades until after 1968. David's knife is a 1950s knife although I don't know the model number at the time but it was not 1184. In the 1950s they did not come with a sheath and David's knife has genuine stag scales whereas the 1184 has synthetic stag handles. Also, by the late 1970s KA-BAR no longer had their own factory and 1184s after then were made by Schrade or Camillus for Cole National KA-BAR.

Thanks, gents. My dad passed earlier this year, and my stepmom wanted me to have this. It's kinda cool to think there's some history here given its age. To me it's more keepsake than collectible, so I appreciate your help.
