Hi I'm fairly new here and I was just wondering if anyone could possibly help me identify the value of this knife I recently obtained.

It is labeled ("BUCK 112" T) Made in the USA

It is abouth 4.5" when sealed and about 7 1/4" when opened.

It appears to have gold on the tops and bottom and the center looks very pearly, possibly ivory.

It is spring loaded and extremely sharp.

How much do you think this thing is worth ? / Is it illegal?
I was under the impression that any spring loaded blade must be under 3 inches but I could be wrong.

Any comments or feedback what so ever would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you! :D

going by your wording id venture you arent american, as such, we would have to know what country you are from to help you out with the laws.

its a smaller buck hunter design. if it is automatic then its a custom conversion which would explain all the custom hand work. thats a really nice knife btw. I couldnt tell you if its legit though, dont know the design that well.

No, I am from the states... california
I'm just not very familiar with knives but this thing looked like it was worth something... Anybody know of a possible price range?

or a gu-estimate ?

It's a Buck 112 Ranger made in 2003, with brass bolsters on the end.

It has been converted to a switchblade and had filework done and the handles have been replaced, all of which was done after it left Buck.

Since the blade is 3 inches, I believe that would make it illegal in California.

Calif. Penal code 653.K “…every person who sells, offers for sale, exposes for sale, loans, transfers, or gives to any other person a switchblade knife having a blade two or more inches in length is guilty of a misdemeanor."

Converted Bucks with that much enhancement, typically run from $150 and up from what I see at knife shows and the occasional Ebay one.

Thank you for the feedback.
I was looking to sell this, but if it is illegal to sell I suppose I'll keep it.
What do you mean by it had filework done on it ?

the spine (side opposite the sharp edge) has been filed to give it that "knurled" appearance.
