I'd like to know more about the Chris Reeve hollow-handle knife in the images - model name, when and where made.

* It doesn't have a serial number.
* No "Made in USA" on the blade.
* Blade length unknown at present, maybe 5.5".

I'm guessing it's a Shadow IV, but I'm a newbie.

Welcome to BFC Sharp Strider!!!!!!
There is a Chris Reeve Knife forum, you may be better off moving the thread there.
You can click on the black triangle in the lower left side to report the thread and ask for it to be moved.

From the details I can say it is a Shadow III, from the sheath it looks like a Shadow IV, but don't let the sheath confuse you, it is a Shadow III with a non-standard sheath, the OAL should be 8" and the blade should be 4", you can recognize it is a Shadow III from the width or proportion of the blade and the handle, and it has the "Made in US" stamp on the blade not very clearly, CRK stopped stamped the number when they migrated to US a period of time.

Thanks, I think you're right! Unfortunately I don't have the knife in hand, otherwise I could measure the blade and look at the details. I should have it early next week and verify your conclusion. I bought it to use and not to collect, clearly it's been carried and used already, so no worries about nicks and scratches - it's a well made user.

Is there someone good I can send this knife to for sharpening who will do a great job?

I would send it back to Idaho. They can ID it for you better than us, and give you a new birthday card. While its there you can get it sharpened and tuned too:)

Nice pickup, I think you'll really like the knife in hand.

I agree with laizjlhekezhui, after looking at the picture and comparing my Shadow IV, yours looks much shorter when I take a similar picture. Must be the Shadow III in a IV sheath.

CRK spa is definitely the way to go for a sharpening and you can choose to pay the small fee to have it refinished like new or just get the free sharpening ($15 return shipping).

Let us know how you like it!

That's not a IV sheath, just a non-standard sheath for Shadow III. The sheath looks like the 4" dagger's(kathathu), I think this sheath from a special personal order.
Now that I look closer it is different. It's very similar to mine other than the tang strap is on the other side.
