Can you paint a tefc motor?

I wouldn't paint the fan, but the casing is fine to paint. Remove the fan cover and fan blade when painting is the best way to do it.

Thy paint the entire motor here at my work (lumber mill). Thy are obsessed with anything that is out side be painted green. I have a few motors that look like thy where just brush painted.

Do I need to mask the area around the shaft i was gonna mask the shaft itself obviously but the rest besides fan wasnt sure

Also, mask off the specifications plate.

For the love of God THIS. I can't tell you how many machines, motors, pumps, etc. I've worked on that had painted spec plates. If/when it comes time to replace a motor, etc... it's way harder than it has to be to find out what was there.

Also, shame on companies that use stickers and/or ink instead of stamped, riveted name plates.

I needed to buy an oven element for a kitchen stove. Wiped the grease off the name plate with my thumb and the ink printed plate wiped clean.

I have a one of about 1600 different models of Kohler Command 20 hp engines on my lawn mower. Same as you, I wiped some oil and dirt off of the sticker, and nearly all of the model, serial, and date of manufacture numbers wiped right off with it. Fortunately, I was able to fine one close enough so that I can get a manual that MOSTLY applys to the parts and repairs that I often need to do to it, though it's anyone's guess what the exact model and serial number is.
