Just curious. Everything I have that is alox is silver and I've never warmed up to the silver. I really like the way the red alox fades after years of carry. I was just wondering if there was a durable paint that could be applied that is close to what victorinox uses so that after years of carry, it would wear down and only be left in the ribs? Just wondering if anyone has done this with all the other mods I've seen done on a sak, this seems like it would be easy.

Depending on the knife, you may be better off (time wise and money wise) just getting the knife in the color scales that you want or contacting one of the modders and see if they'll sell you the set of scales in the color you want.

Your right, I did just that and bought a black alox pioneer.
My main blade is a Buck and I wanted something to carry along with it that I can use for other non knife uses such as adjusting a scope.
I really like the looks of a well used and pocket worn alox.
