Can you recommend a good Case knife?

I really like the looks of many of the folders Case puts out. I guess it reminds me of what I've always seen my father carry.

Can you recommend one of these for an EDC? Preferably one with good edge retention. I can't decide if I like the single or the multi-bladed models the best.

Thanks,
Clay

I used to do quite a bit of business in Case knives. The stainless blade models are made of 420J2 while the carbon steel knives are made of 1095. The carbon steel models, especially the yellow delrin, have a reputation for being very sharp. The problem is their nickname is "blue steel" because they start to tarnish almost immediately. If you can live with the fact the carbon steel knives will turn color, that is the most traditional blade material in a slip joint. Good luck, I hope that the info helps.

I carry a Case Trapper with me typically. I like the size and blade length on them, though it is a little large for packet cary (I'm getting G2 to make a sheath for it for me)

I've carried a Case yellow handled trapper with CV steel for four months now and I really like it. The fit and finish are good, walk and talk are stout, and the blades hold a good edge. As mentioned before they do turn colors but they look good now. I was never a big Case fan but these knives have made me look at them differently. I also like the new Seahorse whittlers. They are well made knives. Case also makes an Amber bone with CV steel that I've been looking at. Go to www.knifeworks.com and check out Rogers selection of Case knives. In the area in Ky. that I'm in Case knives are the only knives that will trade.

Good Luck Dean
