Need to remove some scuffs off a scale. Can you sand down the Micarta and buff it back to looking good? Any suggestions? Thanks

Just don't breath in the dust, wear a mask, that stuff is like asbestos in your lungs.

You can use wax, oil, WD40, and surely other products to get a shine. The first layer of fabric will be the only layer to absorb whatever you put on there.

Dale,
Depending on how deep the scratches depends how coarse of grit sand paper. I wouldn't go any heavier than 220 and work your way to 600, give it a rub with some 0000 steel wool and buff it out with Tripoli (brown) buffing compound. White compound is for metals and stainless steel. Brown is for plastics, woods and simillar substances. Not trying to be arguementive with Sitflyer but I do this stuff all the time and get great results.

No offence taken... always good to learn something new. Thanx mbj

If you sand down too far, you will expose the next layer of linen and you might end up with lines. On some of the micarta, its hardly noticeable.

You can use white, green, or brown rouge. They will all polish it nicely. I use green for everything.
