Question for the group: can you sharpen a leatherman saw blade. I was thinking about buying one of these and think that I would use the saw function a fair bit.

How long will it last and, once dull, can it be resharpened?

I've never had to do so (mine are still sharp as heck), but I imagine you could do so by stoning the outside of the blade, similar to how you sharpen serrated blade by stoning the back (unserrated) side of the blade.

Get a Surge, then if the saw blade gets too dull you can just get another one since they are removeable/replaceable on the Surge

Surge is pretty good but it is as heavy as HELL

Yes, you can. I haven't tried much in the way of saw sharpening, so I still pretty much suck at it myself. Try asking about sharpening saws in the Toolshed (General Knife Discussion near the top). Someone there should be able to give you some good instructions. It involves getting the right set to the teeth and other stuff I'm not up to explaining.

Contrary to popular opinion, you CAN sharpen saws. You sharpen a pocket saw like you sharpen a larger one. Its just more tedious.
