I walked outside the other day and smelled it. If you dont know it you never will, but I smelled it, its fall, Archery Season and hunting season all wrapped into one. Any hunters will know what I mean. It came about 3 days ago, not full blown but just enough of it to let me know that I only got a few weeks until that most magical time of year starts baby. HUNTING SEASON IS COMING.

Buddy I went outside last night and the only thing I smelled was a farmer fertilising his fields with manure . I kid you not .

I do welcome that freshness . That bite in the air which says cool nights for sleeping and warm days for hunting . I told my buddy I would like it to be 60 degrees all year long with one month of cold snowy weather for christmas and one month hot weather to help burn off winters gut .

O:K: so I dream a lot . L:O:L

This is shaping up to be a good year for the deer population in Tennessee. Like my backyard archery target? Not from Cabellas or Bass Pro. :D

So codger where at in Tennesse are ya, I am gonna need an address and Topo maps of the surrounding area, you know.......for Tourist purposes:D

Not too far from Pickwick on the Tennessee River. You wouldn't like our non-resident license fees though. Even resident licenses are high (for the mid-south). Besides, that 'ol boy would be tough eating, and antler soup is nasty!;) Bring your repellent if you come though, chiggers, skeeters and ticks will make you miserable until cool weather hits in late October / mid November.

I'm nearly out of last year's venison steaks and tenderloin, and down to the last bag of jerkey, so I look forward to the first tender deer of the season. Four deer in the freezer and one made into jerkey will just about let me make it through another year.

I usually keep 3-4 in the freezer the rest I donate to Farmers Feeding the Hungry or family. I hunt in Kentucky and PA and NY, I feel these non-resident fee's I pay out the butt in them every year and every year they get a lil worse.

The deer bag limits here are crazy, some areas I hunt I can take 3 or 5 in a day, however the 1st deer has to be a doe. In PA you can take around 2 I believe w/o another license, in KY you can take two-3 all season. in MD I can "theoretically" take an unlimited # of deer, as there is an UNLIMITED bag limit on does in my county Anne Arundel along with 4 other counties. Its crazy here lol. Yeah I'd come down, I love goin new places to hunt, plus ever since reading "A look at life through a deerstand" I have wanted to come to Tennessee.

Yeah, I smelled the cold air on the wind a couple days ago. I think it was Thursday morning. I could smell the salt in the air barely, but I definitely smelled the cold coming. Reminded me that fall is on the way.

Glad someone else knows what im talking about, people think im crazy when I say that I love the smell of fall

Hahaha my g/f looked at me funny when I said "do you smell that" she went "what the rock is cookin"? hahahaah I never laughed so hard in my life. After I told her she's like OOOOOh.

Several trees in my neighborhood have been starting to turn for 2 weeks or so. Seems kinda early... I agree, I love the cooler and cold weather, just wondering if we're going to have a cold winter. We need one.

Codger ? I wouldn,t mind a little bit of that Antler soup . A tough chew maybe . Thats what sausages are for .

You guys are lucky with your prime teritory and multiple bag limits . I,m looking at a two acre woods right now . The only good thing about it is there is supposed to be an abandoned orchard in there and it is surrounded by farmer,s fields .

I hope to set up a ground blind/camp and scout it out a bit . I,m not gonna look around too much as I might push whatever is there right out . Its an archery only zone so thats a plus as well .

45 degrees here in eastern Maine the other morning. Yep, it's coming.

Arizona here and I also smell a whiff of fall every now and then. Can’t wait till 105 degree temp goes away, so I can go out and play. I wish I knew how to hunt.

Local doe just went by with her triplets and she was damn near all grey already. Spots on the little ones are fading fast too.

Worst of all, my neck is startin to swell!

You'll rub all you hair off your head on the saplings!;)

The deer here are in the pea patch most every night. Won't be long now til I'll have a young tender one, then I can wait for a bigger one to come along for the freezer. Spots? I don' see no steenkin' spots!

Young deer liver lightly grilled . no fixins on it . Sweet ? Tastes like candy .

Early archery season we can take what we want . Then its bucks and you can sometimes get a doe tag . Its still pretty tough gettin a trad deer around here .
