Is there a way to straighten rattan?
Any info appreciated!

Does this adversely affect the rattan as it is used for the FMA?

Thanks....

You can, but the trouble is not worth it. If I remember correctly, you soak it in hot water to straighten it.

I think you can re-heat your stick (assuming it was fire-hardened) and straighten it with your hands. Heat the stick in your oven and be sure to use oven mits.

i straighten sticks all the time, when i get sticks they are raw, so we fire harden them, at that time you can straighten them, simply get it real hot and i use my shoe to hold it down and bend it in the opposite direction, then re-heat it and do it again, do it slowly so it does'nt break, i roll it on the ground to find out how staright it is. I have straightened out some pretty bad sticks.
