I have a Ti bladed knife and would like to know if anyone uses a stop to sharpen their Ti blades. If so what compound do you use?

Danial Fairly in the makers section has step by step intructions on how to sharpen TI he makes alot of them so i asume he knows what hes talking about

thanks lobo . I should have known to check Fairly.
Lycosa , do you have a dedicated strop for your Ti blades? Reading Daniels post he warns that Ti will contaminate a strop.

Yes! My Ti blades have their own wheel and strop. My strop is a 2" wide x 8" long mouse pad with buffing compound worked in.
Steel will contaminate Ti too. Don't mix the two.

you can also use the paper buffing wheel to strop the edge. the cardstock from the back of a notepad will work too.

Thanks again Lycosa! I almost did (mix the two)
richard j, I have heard alot of good things about those paper wheels.I will give them a try soon.Thanks.

they work great for ti blades. zaph1 sent me a ti knife he made and i got it shaving sharp. i put a convex edge on it though.

Why use Ti over VG-10 or aogami super or cpm 154?

EDIT:
I am curious, I don't know anything about Ti. I just LOVE my VG-10 and Blue#2

Quick note:

If your ti blade has carbide applied to the cutting edge, the burr created from the sharpening process will be particularly difficult to remove. It's not hard to remove the burr, it just takes a bit more work.

Thanks too, MK. I will try the paper wheel also.
timbit- A Ti blade will cut well and never rust.

A: Status as a "manly luxury metal"
B: Zero maintenance over its lifetime for most conditions on earth
C: lighter than steel but stronger than aluminum of the same dimensions.

As far as suitability for a knife goes, it's a distant second to steel, but still serviceable. Its somewhat odd wear resistance means in some conditions and edge finishes might outperform steel of a similar hardness (usually in the mid 30's rockwell C scale for 6al4v, to 45+ with Mission's Beta Titanium)
