Can you tell if a blade is forged or made by stock removal by the sound of the blade?

I've noticed that a perfectly forged blade has a ring to it, where as my stock removal knives all thunk when ya tap 'em on the table, the only exception is D2 that runs like a forced blade.

So can ya tell how a blade was formed by sound?

No.
larger blades ring better, as a rule. Try holding a sizable blade in different
places along the tang and striking the blade in different spots. eventually
you'll find one combination that rings well.
