I have wanted a Busse blade for a long time and just bought my first one on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=280157336859&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=018

It was $240 shipped and it didn't seem like a bad price. It will be a regular use knife and a daily carry.

What do you think about the Active Duty as a daily carry? Is there a name for this blade because I have seem some called Muddy or whatever so I am curious about mine. I plan to buy me a Okuden sheath for it probably today maybe the A-1 or A-2 can't decide which is better for carry daily. I don't know if I am going to do concealed carry because I will likely have my glock 19 with me also.

Unfortunately I haven't even got to hold it yet since I am on deployment still :( but I will be home soon enough. Maybe then it would be easier to figure out how I would carry it. BTW I live in Alabama and I don't think there is a carry law for a knife other than a bowie.

Thanks
Larry

Muddy refers to the blade color, which is brown. Yours has a green blade and green linen micarta handles. That's a very nice blade+handle combination, and highly desirable. Here are a couple photos of mine:

You will be pleased, but I think that it is fair to state that this represents the first of many Busse Combat knives that you will acquire.:thumbup:

Nice Active Duty. They make awesome EDCs!

Unless it happens to not fit your grip, you're really gonna like this one.

Congrats! (Good price too!)

I edc the same blade in blk/blk canvas micarta, the green linen is sweet after it gets a little use (oil). I've got a couple or green linen users.

Lunde's pics, are great but don't do the handle justice, it's too new. Let it develop a little character.

I've got a BB sheath currently and an Okuden in the mail. I always carry my small edc's either iwb or inside the belt. Keeps them from hanging up with my riding gear.

The AD comes in just under Colorado's statute.

Great price on a great knife, nice first score.

what Lunde said, good luck :thumbup:

Congrats on your first post (after lurking for a year :D) and your first (but not your last) Busse score!

Hey Larry, welcome to Bladeforums and thanks for posting. Those green linen scales look great on the smaller blades! And you got that blade at a very fair price. Congrats on your first Busse.

The Active Duty is a fine EDC-sized blade, and with a quality sheath, it is one you can carry and not even feel like it's there. Among the current crop of EDC-sized blades (Game Warden, Active Duty, Leaner Meaner Street), the AD is probably my favorite of the bunch. It also doubles as a good hunting blade. This past turkey season, I dressed out a nice gobbler with my snake/satin AD.

When you get home to Alabama, please give us a report on the knife.

This is great news then. I have a Kershaw pocket knife now but I have to sharpen it every time it is used it seems and that bugs me to have a blade that won't hold an edge for long.
Now yall have made me very anxious to get home and see my new blade !!

Now I guess what sheath to get. I am trying to decide between the Okuden A-1 or the A-2. Any opinions on those? IWB does sound good for not getting hung up on things. I plan to go hiking, camping, and any other out doors activities that I can so maybe IWB couldn't hurt. It will be a EDC also.

Maybe if you have some pictures of these sheaths could you post something so I can get a better idea of the back of them since there is only one view on the Okuden site.

You know I didn't realize it was a year. I used to get on a look at all the Busses and other customs on this site but soon figured I would never have one of these blades so why bother. When this pocket folder started to get on my nerves by losing its edge to easy I though about finding another knife which ended up leading me to the Busse. I remember reading how good they are and that everyone that owned one loved it and it was tough as hell so I though, heck, why not. Now that I have one at home I still can't touch it yet HEHE. Well that is my story for now. Like other have said it may lead to more but we will see. I though about getting something for my brother one day maybe for christmas. I like the small knives like the AD, meaner, and game wardens. The very large ones I never could see myself actually using.

Well that is enough of a story before it gets boring.

Take care
Larry

Congrats! The AD is the perfect Busse for EDC.

I only have leather AD sheaths...still need to get me a kydex for one.
Someone will have a pic though.

Welcome to the forum BTW! Tell us how you like it when you get back.

My suggestion is to e-mail Okuden and tell him what you want it to do. His designs are very modular. I have a A-1 on order for my AD that is being supplied with both a Teklock and a MOLLE lock. If I'm not mistaken I can also rig it for use as an IWB if I choose to at a later date. It can even be piggybacked to one of his large sheaths. I know that he makes a very well made and well thought out product. I have an A-7T for my BATAC that I am extremely pleased with.

Very cool! Congrats on scoing a excellent blade. And, you got one of my fav combos...green on green! Freaking cool bro. The green coating is got to be one of the toughest, I think you'll be pleased with it performance. The green linen...well Ken mentioned that...highly sought after but not found in abundance. Take a close look at the handles when you get them, they have one of the coolest patterns...get's even cooler the more you handle it!!!:D
