Can you help me to identify this knife? Can you tell me its history?.........

My brother find it in a little knifeshop.

In the blade you can read:

Welcome Hachu!

Ahh, the 1040, aka the Folding Feild II. This fine knife was introduced in 1980, was produced for a decade, and then discontinued in 1990. There were a few variations with the 1040, with both bone and Sandlewood being used as handle materials. There were also 4 Scrimshaw versions as well; A Deer, Canadian Geese, Lab, and Mallard. Polished AUS-8 was the blade steel (I think I am recalling that correctly). The last MSRP on the bone and Sandlewood 1040's was $70, and $495 for the LE Scrim variations.

Dave (kershawguy) may chime in with current values that he has seen.

Hope that helps.

That is a Kershaw Folding field II discontinued aprox. 1989. that version was a 1040W , w meant wood handle, (Malayan sandalwood) they came with a nice leather sheath. Suggested retail in 1989 was $70 and in todays market in that condition with leather sheath it could bring double that amount. They also made that model with bone handles and many were scrimshawed by various artists including Gary harbor, Walter Alexander , and Linda Karst. Hope this helps.

I have the same knife you have shown and I think it a BEAUTIFUL work of art. Mine is stored and protected -- not a carry -- I do put it in a plastic bag sometimes and take it to work just to hear the comments and watch the others guys drool.

I also Have a current model 1780CB which I also protect. It is from the first production run of 335 and was one of the first 5 shipped according to Kershaw.

The 1780CB Rake is the MOST impressive knife I have ever owned. No I am not affiliated with Kershaw I am Just a VERY HAPPY customer.:o:o

BTW The folks at Kershaw are great folks to talk to with any problems you may have with a knife that they have made no matter how old it is. Great company with some really good USA made knives. I was thoroughly impressed when I was dealing with them.

If Cheryl K at Kershaw reads this Just wanna say HI.

LOL Yep I noticed it after I posted --- What can I say --- Everything I said is true and maybe it will be helpful to someone even if it is a little late :)
