Can you tell me the differences between these two steels?

Looking to get a buck vantage pro but they come in different steels. The top two are in 13C26 Sandvik™ steel or SV30. Can anyone tell me the pros and con's of each. The difference in the two knives is only about $10 with the SV30 being more expensive.

Thanks!

Sandvik 13C26 has a carbon content between that of 420HC and 440A (but closer to 440A). It takes a fine razor edge with ease.

S30V is a premium particle metallurgy steel with a relatively high Vanadium Carbide content and a Carbon content almost half again greater than 440C. Harder to sharpen than 13C26, but the edge lasts and lasts.

So which steel would you prefer for EDC and light wood cutting?

The Vantage Pro (S30V model) is on my want list.

Hmm.... if by wood chopping, you mean hacking, 13c26 may be better. Being softer, the edge might not chip as much as a s30v blade would when hacking.

I have the 13c26 model. I like the knife and it sems very well done, especially for the price. I think it's a fine utility knife.
