Hello All, I hope you can help me with this.

I just purchased these stones http://www.amazon.com/Japanese-Masahiro-Sharpen-Whetstones-24C/dp/B001OKJY84/ref=pd_sim_hi_37 and I'm not sure how exactly I should use them. It is advertised as a whetstone, so do I use oil on it? Or can I soak it in water like a water-stone? I'm sure they are man-made stones and I don't know what they're made out of, so I don't want them to dissolve if I soak them in water. There is really no information on the net about these stones that I can find, but I will look even harder if I have to or I will take pictures of them if for some reason that would help. Any advice on this would be awesome. I am very new (like 5 minutes) to this forum but I've read countless threads on here and decided to sign up and try to get help with this. I apologize in advance is this is a ridiculous question and Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

These are wet stones, that means water stones. They need to be soaked in water before start sharpening. Although man made they will not dissolve in water. I do have other brand Japanese artificial wet stones about the same grits and I soak them in water constantly.
