Canada Custom problem - Benchmade Ritter RSK knife didn't pass through

I bought a Ritter RSK axis lock knife from Aeromedix.com.
a few weeks ago, it was confiscated by Canada Custom because it can be opened centrifugal - so it's considered as prohibited weapon.
Custom official told me I can have a bonded courier to ship it back to the sender. But it seems nobody(purolator, fedex, canada post, ups) is willing to ship a prohibited weapon to USA.

Has anyone had similar experience?
My question is : who is willing to ship it to USA for me?

Very odd. I got mine in September of '05. No problems whatsoever. There have been a few reports on the Forum about this though, if I remember correctly. What gives? Has something changed? I really feel bad for you man, it's a great knife :(

This happens every now and then and it means nothing. Sometimes the customs people are just stupid pricks. In the future, just ask people to tighten up the pivot for you before they ship it to you.

Welcome to Bladeforums! I was about to move this thread to the Canadian Connection but I see you've already found that forum. I'm sure someone there will be able to answer your question.

There was a post a few months ago about this, the guys from FedEx accepted after a few calls, just don't tell them it's because it's a knife, just a prohibited item.

cybrok,

Thank you for your reply.
But when I called Fedex, the guy asked me what it is - I can't lie, so he refused to ship it.

It might make a difference how you tell them. If you say something like "it's a perfectly ordinary pocketknife but some hotshot in Customs claims he can open it with a flick of his wrist -- his wrist must be double-jointed" they might be able to understand it's not going to jump out of the package and bite them.

It might also make a difference who you happen to talk to -- you could try calling again at a different time of day.

P.S. Since you've already posted in the Canadian Connection I'll move this thread to Knife Laws. They might be able to help you there.

Hello..

Welcome to BF.com...

I agree with what Cougar says...

This is happening far too often..
It's about time someone started doing something about it..

Do we not have a Fedral Trade commission of sorts in Canada...? Who is the minister responsible ??
There must be someone higher up than Canada customs!!

If these knives are being picked off one at a time at Can post Customs,,why are they being let into the country Period!! ??
You can buy the same knife in Any store in Canada..

Who would we talk to ??

As for your knife.. Unless you have it shipped back, or win an appeal,, you may as well consider it gone...

I'd like to see Exactly where and how these knives are being destroyed...
