Canada sucks if you're on the hunt!

I have pretty specific tastes, and after haunting the forum and the exchange for a long time I know what I want... but good luck trying to get it in Canada. I check the exchange daily, but even I find that sweet steel I so desperately want, I'm completely powerless to acquire it because absolutely no one will ship outside of CONUS. I'm almost to the point of just getting a TGLB because it's the only thing I'd be able to get! (not entirely true, I'm forming a bit of a crush on it...)

I'm starting to think I'm the only Canadian who want a Busse.

I feel ya..

I live in Sweden, no one (just a few) have Busse's here. Aint worth looking around..
Importing a knife can be pretty expensive (if they will ship to sweden will say).

EDIT: I show you this instead. It´s translated with a program, have patience..

First cost: Shipment

Second cost:

"The rate varies from 0-20% depending on the type of goods. The rate is calculated on the purchase price plus shipping and any transport insurance. If the shipment contains goods with a total value of up to 1300 SEK (205 dollar) you need not pay any customs. The exemption does not apply to tobacco products, perfumes, scented water, or for goods that require import permits."

Third cost:

"VAT is 25% on all goods except for food that is 12% and for such magazines is 6%. VAT is calculated on the purchase price, shipping cost and customs fee. Foreign periodicals with a total value of more than 300 SEK (47 dollar) are exempt from VAT .."

Fourth cost:

"In addition to customs and VAT, there is a administration fee.

Import fees you pay when you collect your shipment.

Find out what charges will be before you order so that the final price will not be a surprise."

You're not alone. It does take a little patience but I have managed to score a few from some great people.

I dont get it either. I always say I will take 100% responsibility once it hits customs. I had one guy simply just turn me down when I offered full price and assuming responsibility. You can always get a PO box in the states and they will forward it to your Canadian residence. Its perfectly legal and on the up-and-up.

I have 25+ Busse in my collection and have sold as many. I have no problems aquiring the Busse. My problem is trying not to buy MORE!!!

Happy to proxy for anyone who is legit and on the up and up and all that takes is some open communication...

I need some more info. Proxy? Forgive my ignorance, but i'm assuming you mean 3rd party US address who will ship it to Canada?

Also, stjones, I need the inside scoop on where these deals be at, because mate, I certainly can't find 'em!

Not trying to be a prick, I understand why some people have concerns with cross border dealings, and I know some people are open to the International business. I'm just having very little luck finding one.

Try living in Australia ;)

If its something I really want I contact the seller and ask them if they will reconsider..

I have had sellers send to me when they said CONUS..

Yea, but we in Canada are like a stroll away, you have to like dig a tunnel or something to get down to you!

I haven't had a problem getting blades sent or received across the border other than a little longer wait. Are you in southern Ontario? If you are, you may want to look at a shipping service in the US just along the border and pick things up as they arrive there.

The problem is that this gives the seller ZERO protection if they are using pay pal.

Even if you "take full responsibility" if custom seizes the article, and the seller cannot show that the item was actually delivered to you, a paypal dispute will side with the buyer.

Customs just scares a lot of sellers. I have sold to Canada, and Australia, not without stress.

If you had a buddy down here willing to give a US postal money order on money you send through paypal that would help.

For many, it is simply not worth the extra hassle of dealing with customs forms, and the extra worry.

The reason why I have refrained from shipping OCONUS is because of no tracking unless you pay out the nose and paypal dispute issues. If buyer doesn't mind taking full responsibility once I get a customs number, I might be ok with it. As for paypal dispute. I will not ship until paypal has fully transferred money to my bank.

I know a Canadian that has one or two ;) Busses. Like the others have said, having a kind Hog stateside to ship your INFI to is the way to go for those that won't ship internationally. I have a knife being shipped to me today from the US. I've yet to find someone that won't ship to a proxy, so find the blade you want and talk to the seller, most will work with you to make a sale. Good luck!

I never mind shipping knives international(besides auto's), especially fixed blades. Folding knives seem to be the toughest to send to certain countries. For some its because of international scammers or the whole filling out the customs forms.

@Lindquist

Have you ever tried www.rheinleder.de
I know they are very expensive, the prices are in euro's, but all in all they might still be cheaper in your situation.
It's the only store on our continent that I know sells Busse's.

I see a lot of knife companies and makers that won't ship out of the cont US. Wich sucks, ill ship anywhere you may be.
