Found this old thread about John's CBK after looking at different variations from makers and manufacturers. John does a great job on the, and I love the clipped CBK in stainless that's in my kitchen.

I'm curious to see some of yours and where you've used them.

I'm thinking of a larger model for 2020 based on the sick nasty blade profile, and the Canadian belt knife handle design and flow seems like it could be okay. A nasty Canadian? Maybe.

Here's mine and where it sees the most use, on the cutting board.

The one in the thread was the first one I made.

That's cool, you did great on it. Besides the funky look, the CBK's work great.

I found it a little entertaining that post #9 mentioned getting one for the uses I wanted mine for, food prep in the kitchen and camp and in stainless.

It was also entertaining to read about the test blade that was batoned through bricks. From all the data I've seen, because I'm a data junky, O1 and 1095 should be able to handle the abuse they do at moderately high hardenss, but yet they handle abuse pretty darn well. Most of my data stuff recently has come from the knife steel nerds website. I'm starting to be come convinced that toughness in blade steel is largely over-rated for 99% of our uses, including wood processing.

That’s a cool looking knife.

That’s a cool looking knife.

It's John's standard Canadian belt knife with a thinner steel, slightly longer blade, and clipped point.

Here's what I sent John about what I wanted, along with the descriptions above and the handle material choice. He nailed it.
