I have found the Enco site has excellent search, selection and pricing on things I need.

I mean small orders, like one special reamer at a time.
My normal suppliers has only premium items in stock at $50ish, when it will be limited use & enco has $13 imports.

I have taken items to the shopping cart, but can't get shipping quotes without putting in a credit card.

According to the FAQ, they ship with UPS

I've had brokerage fee nightmares from UPS in the past.

Do they offer USPS shipping ?

How were your experiences on small items?
Were the quoted shipping charges the only charges, or did you get dinged at the door for an extra $40 or $50 ?

I will also ask their CS directly, but I was hoping for actual experience.

Patrice? I think you used them ?

I agree Frank.

If UPS is the only way to go, I can just buy the premium reamer in Canada at the same pricing with no shipping time.

There is a service (I'm forgetting the name at the moment) that sells you an American mailing address, and will forward it to you from there. So you can ship UPS to there, and they'll use USPS I imagine, to forward it to you. Sorry that I don't remember the name, but it does exist. It's mostly for places that refuse to ship outside the USA.

Edited to show forwarding service. Have not used it but I have a friend in Malaysia that uses it, and she likes it.

Depending on what you are buying, have you tried Busy Bee tools? They have stores all over Canada and aren't bad on price.

Sadly Busy bee is geared more towards woodworkers and has only a general assortment of metalworking tools and then mostly imports.

Thanks for the replies

I know about Busy Bee. As Pat mentioned, the selection is mostly wood related.
They have also ticked me off a couple of times.
I get much better service from industrial suppliers.

I got an email reply from Enco Customer Service & they DO ship USPS

When you place your order online you will be instructed someone will contact you via email with relevant shipping charges

based on the weight of your order using UPS, USPS Priority mail or flat rate.

After you respond with your choice of shipping method we will ship your order and charge your credit card.

I'll get a small order together and see how they are.

Does anyone have an active Discount code?

I placed an order

The email with shipping options is

I choose this one
Priority Mail® International Small Flat Rate Box$ 11.95 3-5 days (no tracking available)

The shipping is high for such a small item.
If I could have added more items, shipping would have had less effect per item.
With no tracking, I'm taking the chance it arrives.
But My local suppliers, ebay and others were all at least double, so if it arrives I'm better off.

I could have added a hundred other items, but then I would have wanted tracking and insurance too.
I'm trying to keep this small for now.
Christmas is coming though...I can see Santa shopping here...
I wish they would send me a paper catalogue.

Count. You got to know mail service to Canada as well as in Canada is expensive. It's a Canadian thing. Frank

Do you people ever use KBC tools. They have stores in Canada and some good tools at reasonable prices. Frank

What about custom fees? Did you just have to pay the GST?

I used USPS but had no tracking
It was small enough, cheap enough, just a reamer = that it went straight to my mailbox with no customs handling. & no extra fees

Yes I always check Sowa and KBC first, but it was an odd sized reamer & only USA made ones were available in Canada.

Enco sold a Euro import at a fraction of the price, shipping included.
