All the way to Toronto from Whitehorse, Yukon - knifemaker George Roberts. (He thought the blustery Toronto weather was "balmy".)

Knifemaker Brian Russell with a superb selection of knifemaking videos.

From Alberta, knifemaker and chef Thomas Haslinger.

A custom carving set made by Haslinger that will take your breath away - bravo, Chef!

92591476.jpg

Ian Hubel and his wife from Frankford, Ontario.

92591461.jpg

CKG Show Director, London knifemaker Eric Elson. Great job, Eric!

92591135.jpg

Knifemaker Jim Downie.

Another rising young Canadian star - Kirby Lambert from Saskatchewan. He's starting to get quite a bit of magazine coverage and if you have the opportunity to handle his unique folders and superb Japanese blades, you'll understand why.

92591451.jpg

Eric Elson and Peter Wile in conversation with internationally-renowned Canadian maker Wolfgang Loerchner.

New maker Barb Lörchner ("Yes, I'm the one using the umlaut!") showing her exquisite blades to Murray White and some other guy, by coincidence also named Lörchner.

Well, that's my short but heartfelt homage to just a few of the many fine makers we have here in Canada; the faces of artisans in steel that the rest of the world doesn't get to see often enough. True artists all.

Wonderful images and GREAT candids of people! You are good at that, Holger. I appreciate meeting the makers in these (3) threads.

Thank you!

Coop

Terrific job Holger! between you and Murray we have comprehensive coverage of what was a terrific show.

For future reference, you can keep all these pics together in one thread by posting parts II and III as reply posts to part I. They do otherwise tend to become separated over time.

Interesting 'workaround', Roger! Is it too late to do that? (I could never figure out how people post 25-30 photos at a time - when I get an error message trying to post more than 10 photos. :o )

Um, I dunno. You could certainly add parts II and III to as replies to part one, but merging the responses already present for the separate threads and deleting teh existing free-standing parts II and III is probably a job for a moderator.

Nice bunch of images Holger. Glad you were able to get them posted.

The easiest way to do your postings is to prepare everything in Word or Wordpad and save as .rtf.

I put a text marker for each part I plan to post at anyone time so I don't make a mistake and grab a duplicate section of text/images.

By doing this, you can copy/paste quickly into the text box of the thread so that all the info remains in one portion of the thread. I use reply but edit would work too.

Just be sure to do a preview so you can see if you make any errors in the links to images.

Yep, that's what I did this time - but I wasn't aware of the little trick that Roger mentioned to get more than 6 or so photos to show up in one thread. Of course when I tried to put all 33 photos into one thread the warning messages were hurled at me from every direction! :) Next time, I'll do it right. I just think it's important for people to actually SEE the makers they may have only read about.

Hey, you're never too old to learn. But I'm getting there. ;)

Thanks for posting these pics.
It was good to see some of the guys I used to meet at the Blade Show like Christof Deringer and Murray St. Amour - when you come across Murray again , please tell him I sent my regards!
