Greetings all,

The Canadian Knifemakers Guild (CKG) Show kicked off this morning here in sunny-but-still-cold Toronto.

With such marquis names as Kirby Lambert, Brian Tighe and Wolf Loerchner, there was ample eye candy. I apologize in advance for the picture quality - poor light and an unsteady hand frequently conspired against me.

You can see the pics here:

Just click on the pic for the description.

No apologies needed on hand-held quality. This was great display of *really* good knives.

You were sorely tempted a lot. Who scratched the itch..... ? :D

Thanks Roger. I need to find out more about Paul Aime-Fortier. Also, that collaboration auction knife is stunning.

a few more pics...I will have more later...

Gee, Roger - I missed you AGAIN? Can't you stay past lunch? ;) I actually got there 4 hours earlier than I usually do!

(and you meant to say "Barb" Loerchner, right? ;) )

Looks like a great show and some very fine knives there.

I figured it was too cold in the north country to make knives :p

For all of you interested in the Loerchner family tree:

Barb is married to Wolfe's son, Dave. Wolfe is married to Dianne ("...with TWO N's!...) and Barb and Dave's latest addition is daughter Netania.

And collectively, they're wonderful people.

Got that? There'll be a test later. ;)

No new toys this time 'round, Coop. While there is no shortage of talent to be found, the CKG tends to be somewhat under-represented in the forged blade category. I didn't see Christoph this year.

Cheers,

Roger

I overheard someone say that Christoph Deringer was exhausted from all the shows he's attended lately and wasn't up to making the trip to Toronto this time. Always one of my favourite makers to chat with.
