Hi, I'm new to this scene and the inevitable has happened... I've caught the bug... I'm hooked, woe is me. Now that I've got that out of my system, does anyone here know where I can find info about canadian knife laws? I've been to a couple places online trying to get a BM42 but they won't ship to Canada... this has me very perturbed, especially since one place took my order but can't ship to me anyways :P. Also if anyone knows a place I can order a BM42 that ships to Canada (price isn't an issue) I'd be most grateful. Thanks in advance.

You might try www.knifezilla.com , but I'm not sure if they got them in yet. www.1sks.com might send to you, but I'm not quite sure because balis are illegal throughout Canada...

in my experiences, Canada is the WORST place to ship a balisong. mainly cause customs ACTUALLY do their job and seize these thigns.. which makes it quite a 'fun challenge' to ship em there.. Knifezill and I can tell you out war stories until youre bored to death

but yeah good luck

Hmmm, 1SKS I gather is willing to ship to Canada but they don't guarantee it will get past customs in which case I'd be out over 100 bucks... I knew being born in Canada was a bad idea... grrrr...

US Customs suck because they sieze knives randomly from reputable companies (CRKT) and Canadian Customs suck because they actually do their job and sieze balisongs and switchblades unnecessarily. Good luck getting some 42's.

Yes, it's latin.

I guess I'll risk ordering a BM42 and see if they'll try and be 'discreet'

Put things like "Computer Parts... Do NOT x-ray" and things like that on the package, lol. Come to think of it... I got a package that was computer parts once and did say that and I think they x-rayed it or something cause they were all fried... :-)

Just an idea here, but do you have any friends that live near the canadian border (or Washington). You could have them cross the border to get a bm, the cross back into Canada and mail you the bali that way (Im sure internal mail is not as scrutinized).

I was just poking around www.knifezilla.com and I stumbled upon an interesting fact... Apparantly they are the official knife source of the Canadian Balisong Collectors Association... I take this as a good sign, so I'm placing my order for a BM42 there. :-)

I wonder what foil does to the x-ray machine!? Maybe it won't even see anything in the box besides a big flat thing (the foil).

My 1st order from Knifezilla made it through fine - a little longer than the promised delivery time, but made it here all the same. Good luck.

Oh yeah - head to "Canadian Connection" in Community (if you haven't already), & do a search on "knife laws" Many, many, many discussion threads, all worth reading. Pay careful attention to HJK's posts - he knows his stuff. And welcome to the forums!
