Anyone here carrying traditionals in Canada? Show me how they have endured the harsh climates of other parts of this northern country..

I collect and use traditionals but I keep them stored in the house :D Quite honestly I think the southern humid climate is much worse for traditions, at least the carbon steel variety. Here are a few with long Canadian history.
The swell center in ebony and the pearl are both marked EDWARDS which is a house brand for an early Montreal hardware business. The other two are marked Civil service Canada, and Government of Canada. The Rodgers jack was found in the local dump by a friend.
Have a great day

I work outside during the summer doing construction surveying so my pocket is a haven for rust. Usually I turn to carrying stainless knives like a sodbuster Jr and a SAK during the summer months and leave my carbon steel knives oiled up in a box in my closet. The rest of the year when it's not quite so sweaty I usually carry my 73 farmer with me everyday, oiling it on the weekend for some protection.

I don't know why I find stamped blades so very appealing, but I really really do!

Thanks for the pictures, Robin. I'm glad I ducked into this Canadian thread. :D

Thanks Sarah, after finding the second government marked blades I am now on a quest for more. I agree, while I'm not wild about most blade etches I DO love stamped blades.

Have a great day

Ummm...All you have to do is look at Waynorth's posts. Charlie's name is well taken.

Another Canadian here. I only carry traditionals and I've never had any issues with them from the climate. Well, some rusting in the humid summer, but not extreme and usually a result of my not wiping down the blades or oiling often enough. When I remember to give my carbon blades even basic maintenance I have no issues. No problems as a result of cold weather either. Although, being that I'm in Toronto, some of my more western neighbours wouldn't consider Toronto winters to be cold, but that's another issue:)

Speaking of canadian knifes I collect Pemier Lifetime. Mostly sold in Canada.
Heres the display case I have. Came from a hardware store in Vancover.

I loved the "Civil Service" stamp on some of those blades. I wonder what they were used for? That's really interesting, and I have a hard time imagining any government entity in North America issuing knives to office workers. :)

Nice Premier display, Rick!
Looks like you have all the slots filled.

I have a fantasy that it was used by a civil servant to whittle down the pay of our early elected officials. You can dream :D

Best regards

Robin

Old Bowie, is really like to see more pictures of that equal end in the display case. Fourth from the left on the top row. I'm a sucker for bone covered equal ends.
